The roadside inn "Ehrn"

A tavern for farmers and wagoners, for wedding celebrations and funeral meals

The entire building, which was reconstructed in 1840, is evidence of the owner’s self-confidence and desire for prestige. The solidly built ground floor with its thick walls has large windows which provide a view into the spacious tavern room.

Die Ehrn

A “Schrot” (balcony), whose boarded railing supports coloured blind arcades, runs along the eaves side in front of the upper floor, which is built in block construction. A simple rod balcony, by which a dovecote is accessible, is mounted in front of the gable. Carpentry painting can be discovered on the consoles of this balcony. A dance hall is constructed above the tavern room.

EhrnSituated at a road junction near Kollnburg in the Regen administrative district, the “Ehrn” inn served guests such as farmers and craftsmen from the surrounding area as well as wagoners who were on their way along the road. The associated farm served as a means of self-subsistence for the innkeepers. Several pigs were fed with kitchen scraps.

Dismantled in 1976, rebuilt in 1979/80 – installation of the bad weather playground in the barn in 1998, and the “Außergefilder Stube” room with small stage in 2007
