The Raidl-Haus
Fragment of a four-sided farmstead
The year 1775 is written in the granite lintel above the entrance door. The Raidl-Haus was an outbuilding at a farmstead in Böhmzwiesel near Waldkirchen.
The façade with the baluster balcony faced the village road. Two living rooms, a cellar at ground level and a storage room were suitable as an “Austragswohnung” (separate dwelling for retired farmer & wife). There is a meticulously timbered granary in the rearward part.
Museum plans to transfer further buildings from the Raidl-Hof to Finsterau repeatedly foundered. The farmstead could easily show how the once generously dimensioned farmsteads in the villages were crammed with farm buildings and residential buildings in the course of centuries.
Dismantled in 1977, reconstructed until 1980
