The Massing Open-Air Museum in the Rottal

On the extensive grounds of our museum, you will find farmhouses and typical village buildings from southern Lower Bavaria. Here you can vividly experience earlier rural culture.

All museum buildings were faithfully reconstructed from their original locations and moved to the open-air museum. They represent typical building styles and farmstead layouts of the Rottal, Isartal, and Hallertau regions.

Admire here at Schusteröderhof a stately Rottal farmhouse from the 18th century and the special ornamentation on the house, the barn and the wagon shed.

Imagine yourself at Kochhof Step back in time to the rural life of the 1930s. Visit his goats, chickens, and geese. Look out at the pig pasture and the windmill.

Admire at Heilmeierhof A particularly charming farmhouse. You can also see a general store, a washhouse and bakehouse, and an old schoolroom.

Learn in the Marxensölde Get to know the lives of former small farmers. Explore the neighboring area. Rope factory An ancient craft. Immerse yourself in the Görgenmannsölde a visit to a potter's workshop in the famous Kröning ceramics region. Visit the large Lehnerhof from the Hallertau region and learn interesting facts about hop cultivation.

The Rottal Cycle Path It passes directly by the museum, the train station is barely a 10-minute walk away, and parking is available right next to the museum.
